An Act Of Kindness

“It is well to remember that the entire universe, with one trifling exception,
is composed of others.” … John A Holmes Jr

Imagine, if you will, that we live in a world where thoughts and emotions are automatically and immediately transformed into actions.

Would you change who you are?

Patience would no longer be a virtue. Second guessing one’s decisions would be futile. Irrevocable consequence would be our teacher.

How would you change the world?

No One Needs To Tell You How

“The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart and head and hands.”

Everyone’s path is their own.

No one needs to tell you how to be kind.

You have within you every smile, every encouraging word, every open door, every act of kindness possible.

You are gracious. You are loving, and you are kind. The world benefits from your presence, every day.

You seek out opportunities to touch the lives of others. You understand that ripples travel far, and find joy in setting them in motion.

Your kindness is simple, often forgotten, yet others continually benefit from your goodness.

You blaze a trail, but don’t expect anyone to follow, because you know that everyone’s path is their own.

Many will question. Many will judge. Smile, and thank them kindly for their thoughts.

The Universe cannot be what it is, without you.

Share your kindness. Leave a trail.

Many will do the same.

Is My Kindness Insignificant?

“Kindness is the touch of an angel’s hand.” … James L. Gordon

Kindness is a way of life

I truthfully cannot imagine any moment in life where I would think the touch of an angel to be insignificant. Surely the angels that demonstrate great kindness, don’t consider their blessings to be easily dismissed. But then, true kindness is not about recognition, or acclaim. It is simply selfless concern for another.

Kindness has no need for loudness to make itself heard. It changes lives with small steps, quiet whispers, gentle nudges. Kindness touches the hearts of others by opening doors, smiling graciously, listening intently, and loving deeply.

It is selfless, it is unconcerned with outcome, and it is a profound gift of Divine interaction between two people.

The other day, as I waited at an intersection overcrowded with construction, I watched a policeman take the hand of a disabled woman, and walk her safely out of harm’s way. Policemen are supposed to act in ways such as this. They are trained to protect and serve.

Not for a second do I doubt that this man has a good heart, and did what he did out of genuine concern for the woman. What he did is significant enough for me to write about it.

But, kindness is not a matter of significance. It just is. Life does not stop to shower accolades upon a giver of kindness, nor to lead the recipient to the promised land. Life goes along on its merry way as if nothing ever happened, and leaves us to decide how things such as these are remembered.

Kindness is a way of life. It is who we are, not what we do.

If we are truly kind, loving, generous, and willing, then everything we do is an act of kindness.

There is no need for significance.
